Welcome

The Online Compliance Consortium (OCC) is a business model designed for a regulated world.

The OCC collaboratively develops compliance and risk management training, tools and technology for the world's leading law firms. Representing 9 of the 10 magic circle firms, 60 of the top 100 UK firms and 24 of the top 25 US firms, the OCC applies a methodology that is designed to satisfy regulatory requirements whilst meeting the specific needs and quality standards of the world's leading law firms.

OCC Core Groups

Compliance and risk management is best achieved when enough businesses in a profession or industry work together pragmatically to create the necessary tools that set best practice standards.

The OCC Core Group model allows like firms to share financial, intellectual and human resources to create solutions that directly satisfy their combined requirements. Since its inception in 2003 the OCC has spawned 10 Core Groups:

OCC Risk Management System

The OCC Risk Management System (RMS) is designed to allow a Compliance Team to efficiently manage risk and demonstrate to management and its regulator how it is doing so. The RMS evidences and tracks the control procedures and related activities the firm has put in place offering presentation-quality reporting and a complete audit trail.

VinciWorks' Risk Consulting Team can assist Compliance Officers in building and maintaining their Compliance Plan, Compliance Gap Analysis, Risk Register and Control Procedures, to ensure firms are using the RMS to the best of its capabilities and are prepared for regulators.

The RMS is cloud-based and secure with an intuitive web interface and advanced user-management capabilities which centralises access-control, communications, follow-up, alerts, reporting and audit capabilities as a complete and dynamic solution to replace the static Excel-based Risk Registers in place at many firms.

OCC Technology Solutions

The right technology solutions don't happen by accident. The OCC collaborative approach allows VinciWorks (the OCC's development partner) to develop tools that help its clients ensure they get the solutions and services they need and want, on time and to budget. VinciWorks uses its own internal development teams in Melbourne and Manila and its network of industry-leading advisors and consultants to create and constantly refine the OCC technologies.

This unique approach includes procedures, tests and benchmarks designed to assess and evaluate each project, making measurable improvements as the projects and client relationships progress and grow.

One of the key benefits of online training is the ease of tracking compliance. The OCC provides a range of software tools to support the administration and management of all compliance training in a law firm.

The Legal Learning Management System is a platform to deploy, manage, track and report on usage, scores and completion of training courses. It is supplemented by the CPD tracking engine which can be used on an individual or firm-wide basis to monitor lawyers' ongoing CPD training and accreditation.

OCC Bespoke Course Development

By developing e-learning courseware in a flexible Content Shell with re-usable text and exercise templates and an integrated tracking and administration engine, VinciWorks is able to offer its OCC clients a way to develop high quality bespoke e-learning courseware faster and at a significantly lower cost.

The Development Process
At the commencement of every project, VinciWorks completes an initial content review and consults with the client on the content, instructional design, user interface design and project planning. This initial consultation helps the client determine how to structure the course and which types of exercises to use, and defines an approach for selecting, editing and placing the content.

VinciWorks Services
As part of any bespoke development VinciWorks will provide the following services:

  • Instructional and content design consulting and project planning
  • Review of content for standard compliance with templates
  • Review of content and related materials (including reference materials)
  • Copy-editing of content provided by clients within the VinciWorks templates

  • Integrate the LLMS with the firm's own HR Directory/Practice Management Systems
  • Create and manage teams or groups of users
  • Manage classroom training

  • Customise the interface to display specific data

CPD Tracking

Professional associations in most jurisdictions today require their members to undertake continuing professional development (CPD) and or fulfil risk management or other professional training (RME). Apart from undertaking the training, individuals are required to keep a record of their training activities and ensure that they satisfy the profession’s CPD requirements.

The requirement to track CPD/RME points and now AML training across a firm can be a cumbersome and time consuming process. The need to calculate the accredited points required by an individual based on years qualified, hours worked, his or her specific activities and other criteria adds to this frustrating process. The pain is significantly exacerbated for international firms working in multiple jurisdictions.

Based on detailed requirements provided by a range of OCC firms, the OCC has now developed a state-of-the-art multi-jurisdictional, automated points tracking tool.

Accreditation rules can be customised according to a firm’s specific requirements. Hours worked and suspension or other similar periods can be automatically uploaded from a firm’s practice management or HR system. And points can be uploaded by an administrator, by the individual learner or automatically.
Offering a broad range of reports and the ability to customise reports, the OCC CPD Tracking Engine delivers a complete solution for firms of all sizes.
